Knoebels Amusement Park, located near Elysburg, Pennsylvania, is a family-owned and run amusement park, picnic grove, and campground. It is America’s largest free-admission park, having opened in 1926. There are almost 60 rides at the park, including three wooden roller coasters, three steel roller coasters, a 1913 carousel, and a haunted house dark ride. The Knoebel family owns and operates the amusement park, as well as a timber yard next to it. The name of the park has historically been written “Knoebels” without the apostrophe, and it appears in all official park advertising and communications. The park is located on the border of Northumberland and Columbia Counties. The complex is mostly located in the Columbia County townships of Cleveland and Franklin, but it is also located in Ralpho Township on the Northumberland County side of the South Branch Roaring Creek.Amusement Today, American Coaster Enthusiasts, and the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions have all given the park and its rides accolades. Knoebels was named one of the Top 10 Family Friendly Amusement Parks in the United States by Travel Channel in 2014.

There are five roller coasters in Knoebels, and there are also two carousels, the Grand Carousel and one at Kidd eland. In addition, there are two trains in the park, Old Smokey, a mini steam locomotive, and the Pioneer, a railroad that runs from the park’s edge all the way to a wooded section where visitors can enjoy the wildlife. Other attractions in the amusement park are their Ferris wheel, a chutes ride and William F. Mangels “Whip”. The park also has a Flyer, a Robo-jet and the 3-minuteHaunted Mansion ride. Guests at the park can also enjoy a Himalaya themed ride and the Garrick Merry Mixer ride. Knoebels prices are somewhat different from other amusement parks. Admission is free and so is parking and the entertainment. What the visitors pay for are the rides which include pay one price for unlimited access. Ticket prices for rides are very affordable with the Going’ Baggy, Hand Cars and Sky Slide priced at $1, and the Grand Carousel costs $1.25 and the Balloon Race also $1.25.
